Who We Are

This website is operated by Ian Kane and is accessible at securemydata.online. It is an informational resource about digital security practices and internet history. It does not sell products, collect registrations, or operate any user accounts.

If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us via the details at the bottom of this page.

What Data We Collect

The short answer is: none. We do not operate any database, analytics platform, or data collection system. The table below gives a complete picture of every data type and its status.

Data Type Collected? Detail
Analytics & tracking None No analytics platform. No page view tracking. No heatmaps or session recording.
Advertising cookies None No advertising of any kind. No remarketing or behavioural targeting.
Functional cookies None We do not set any cookies. We use one localStorage entry to remember you have acknowledged this privacy notice.
Form submissions None There are no contact forms, newsletter signups, or input fields of any kind on this site.
Server access logs Hosting provider Your IP address, browser type, page requested, and timestamp are recorded in standard server logs by our hosting provider. We do not access or analyse these logs. See section 4 for details.

// Bottom line: visiting this site leaves no personal data in our hands. The only data that exists is in your hosting provider's standard server logs, which we do not use, sell, or analyse.

Fonts & External Requests

Many websites load fonts from Google Fonts, which causes your browser to send a request to Google's servers — sharing your IP address with Google in the process. This site does not do that.

All fonts used on this site — Bebas Neue, DM Mono, and DM Sans — are self-hosted on our own server. Your browser loads them directly from securemydata.online with no request made to Google or any other third party.

There are no external scripts, no CDN-loaded libraries, no embedded social media widgets, no YouTube embeds, and no third-party API calls of any kind. Every resource on every page of this site is served from our own server.

Hosting & Server Logs

This site is hosted on a private server. Like all web servers, it automatically records a standard access log each time a page is requested. This log contains:

Your IP address, the page or file requested, the date and time of the request, your browser type and operating system (user agent string), and the HTTP response code.

These logs are generated automatically by the web server software. We do not actively use, analyse, sell, or share these logs. They are retained for a short period for the purposes of diagnosing technical issues and server security, then deleted. They are covered by our hosting provider's own data processing terms.

If you wish to minimise even this data, you can browse via a VPN or Tor Browser, which will mask your IP address from the server — entirely consistent with the advice given elsewhere on this site.

localStorage — The Privacy Notice Flag

When you acknowledge this privacy notice, we store a single item in your browser's localStorage — a flag with the value opsec_privacy_acknowledged = 1. This tells the site not to show you the notice again on subsequent visits.

This is not a cookie. It is stored only in your own browser, never transmitted to our server, and contains no personal information. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data, or by opening your browser's developer tools and deleting it manually.

This is the only item we ever write to your browser's storage.

// 06

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights regarding your personal data — including the right to access, correct, and delete it. In practical terms, because we hold no personal data about you, these rights have nothing to act upon on our end.

If you believe we may hold data about you that is not accounted for in this policy, or if you have any concern about your privacy in relation to this site, please contact us and we will respond promptly.

// 07

Children

This site is an informational resource intended for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. As no data is collected from any visitor, no special provisions regarding children's data are necessary beyond this statement.

// 08

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how this site operates in a way that affects privacy — for example, adding a contact form or changing hosting provider — we will update this policy and revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Given the nature of this site, we do not anticipate any such changes.

This policy was written to be honest and plain rather than comprehensive and confusing. If something is unclear, please ask.
